## Fields

### `provider: String`

Environment provider, for example `local`, `docker`, `opensandbox`, or `k8s`.

### `control_location: ControlLocation`

Where NeMo Fabric control code runs relative to the environment.

### `ownership: EnvironmentOwnership`

Whether NeMo Fabric owns the environment resource.

### `workspace: Option<PathBuf>`

Workspace path inside or outside the provider.

### `artifacts: Option<PathBuf>`

Artifact path inside or outside the provider.

### `env: BTreeMap<String, String>`

Environment variables visible to the harness and its tools.

Values are serialized into the run plan and can appear wherever configs or plans are logged or persisted. Prefer `api_key_env`-style environment-variable-name indirection for credentials.

### `env_names: Vec<String>`

Names of environment variables visible to the harness and its tools, with values read from the NeMo Fabric process environment.

Only the names are serialized into the run plan. NeMo Fabric reads each value when it starts or invokes the adapter and fails if one is unset. Values must remain unchanged while a runtime or service is active; restart the runtime and any associated service to use changed values.

### `connection: Map<String, Value>`

Provider connection metadata, such as server URL, credential reference, or namespace.

### `metadata: Map<String, Value>`

Consumer-provided environment metadata.

### `settings: Map<String, Value>`

Provider-specific settings.

### `extensions: BTreeMap<String, Value>`

Additive normalized environment fields.
