# How does Kumo handle timestamp time zones?

> Use consistent UTC timestamps for temporal prediction

Use UTC consistently for source timestamps and prediction boundaries.

Pass `prediction_time` as a timezone-naive Python `datetime` representing UTC. Timezone-aware values are rejected. Supplied temporal prediction rows use timezone-naive UTC Arrow timestamps. Convert local times to UTC before removing timezone information.

The prediction time is the anchor for the task's time windows. It is separate from the time the scoring job starts.
