Terminology#

The following table lists the terms that will be used throughout this guide.

Support Services

Includes technical support, upgrade, and maintenance.

Perpetual License

A non-expiring, permanent software license that can be used on a perpetual basis without the need to renew. Support Services are required and are available in three-year or five-year increments. One-year Support Services available only for renewals.

Subscription

A software license that is active for a fixed period as defined by the terms of the subscription. A subscription includes Support Services for the duration of the subscription term.

License Server

An application that manages license allocation, installed on a physical or virtual server.

GPU

Graphics processing unit.

CPU

The computer’s central processing unit (CPU) is the portion of a computer that retrieves and executes instructions.

Per GPU License

“GPU” means (I) for on-premise deployments, the number of physical GPUs in the computing environment that is accessed by products, or (ii) in a cloud computing environment, the number and type of GPUs attached to the compute instance on which products are installed. For per-GPU licenses, NVIDIA requires one Enterprise Product license for each GPU.

For Omniverse Enterprise software that is licensed under the Agreement to run on computing environments or compute instances without an NVIDIA GPU, such as Nucleus, NVIDIA requires one OVE license for each computing environment or compute instance.

Subscription

Software license that is active for a fixed period as defined by the terms of the subscription. An annual subscription includes SUMS for the duration of the license term.
