Blackwell Architecture vGPU Types#

NVIDIA Blackwell data center GPUs pair high-bandwidth memory with Tensor Cores for AI training and inference in virtual machines. Boards in this reference support Multi-Instance GPU (MIG) slices on applicable SKUs and both MIG-backed and time-sliced NVIDIA vGPU types so you can assign fixed GPU instances or share framebuffer by time slice.

The tables list per-SKU framebuffer sizes, maximum vGPUs per GPU, MIG slice and compute-instance counts where MIG applies, and display limits for time-sliced compute profiles.

MIG-Backed and Time-Sliced NVIDIA vGPU for Compute#

Physical GPUs per board: 1

The maximum number of vGPUs per board is the product of the maximum number of vGPUs per GPU and the number of physical GPUs per board.

MIG-Backed NVIDIA vGPU for Compute

Time-Sliced NVIDIA vGPU for Compute

Intended use cases:

  • vGPUs with more than 40 GB of framebuffer: Training Workloads

  • vGPUs with 40 GB of framebuffer: Inference Workloads

These vGPU types support a single display with a fixed maximum resolution.
