English-US#

The latest EN-US TTS models support 35 phones and two stress symbols natively. An additional two phones are converted to supported phones, six diphthongs, two affricates, and seven r-colored vowels are supported. For details, refer to the Converted Phones section.

Converted Phones#

Two phones, ʌ and ɚ are not natively supported in the model, but are converted to ə and ɝ respectively. Diphthongs and affricates are treated as two separate phones. For example, becomes a,ʊ.

The following diphthongs are supported:

The following affricates are supported:

R-colored vowels are treated as separate phones; similar to diphthongs and affricates. The following r-colored vowels are supported:

  • ɪɹ

  • ɛɹ

  • ʊɹ

  • aɪɹ

  • aʊɹ

  • ɔɹ

  • ɑɹ

Lastly, we do not support vowel length. Phones such as ɑː will be treated as ɑ.
