Field Identifiers#
A DCGM field identifies one item of telemetry or state. Field identifiers are shared across DCGM interfaces: command-line tools, language bindings, and the C/C++ API refer to the same underlying fields even when they present the identifier differently.
Each entry in the catalogue below has a symbolic DCGM_FI_* name and a
numeric value. The symbolic name is defined by the public C header and is
useful when reading DCGM source or writing compiled applications. Interfaces
such as dcgmi dmon accept the corresponding
numeric value. For example, the definition
DCGM_FI_DEV_GPU_TEMP_CELSIUS 150 identifies field 150.
Selecting a field#
Use dcgmi dmon --list to list the fields known to the installed DCGM
release, including their numeric IDs and display names. This reports field
metadata; it does not guarantee that every listed field is supported by every
GPU, driver, or entity type. See dcgmi dmon for selection syntax,
output behavior, and support considerations.
Other commands apply additional constraints to the same identifiers. dcgmi fieldgroup groups fields for repeated monitoring, dcgmi test accepts injectable fields, and dcgmproftester accepts supported profiling metric IDs.
Field scope, entity level, and value type determine where a field can be used and how its value should be interpreted. See Field Scope, Field Entity, and Field Types for those definitions.
Field catalogue#
The catalogue uses the symbolic names defined by the public C header. These names and their corresponding numeric identifiers apply across DCGM interfaces. The field-metadata lookup functions at the end of the catalogue apply specifically to C/C++ clients.

-
DCGM_FI_DEV_NVLINK_CRC_FLIT_ERROR_PER_LINK_TOTAL 1525#
Per-link NVLink metrics keyed by a dcgm_link_t entity.
Unlike the legacy DCGM_FI_DEV_NVLINK_*_L<n> fields (one field id per link), a single field id below covers every link. The caller selects the GPU and link by passing a dcgm_link_t entity using the DCGM_FE_LINK entity group, so these fields scale to any number of links (e.g. 36 on Rubin) without new field ids. The legacy L0-L17 fields are retained as aliases for backward compatibility.

DCGM_FI_PROF_NVLINK_TX_BYTES_PER_LINK 1532#
Per-link NVLink GPM counters, keyed by a dcgm_link_t entity (DCGM_FE_LINK entity group).
The link index carried in the entity selects the underlying NVML GPM per-link metric, so a single field id covers every link. Distinct from the GPU-wide DCGM_FI_PROF_NVLINK_TX/RX_BYTES.
-
DCGM_FI_PROF_NVLINK_RX_BYTES_PER_LINK 1533#
-
DCGM_FI_MAX_FIELDS (DCGM_FI_PROF_NVLINK_RX_BYTES_PER_LINK + 1)#
