Network Provisioning workflow

BCM-Netautogen tool is a comprehensive network automation tool designed specifically for NVIDIA SuperPOD deployments. It provides automated generation of network configurations, IP allocations, and switch configurations for various DGX types (A100, H100, H200, B200, GB200) with support for both MLAG with VRR and EVPN with Head replication VXLAN switch configurations. NetautoGen simplifies greenfield deployments by leveraging the SuperPOD reference design to ensure consistency and efficiency. The tool also supports NVLink Switch bringup through ZTP (zero-touch provisioning), along with NMX-C and NMX-T clusters, through BCM and the cm-lite-daemon.

Overview

The following diagram shows the network provision workflow:

Two-stages workflow

Stage 1: bcm-superpod-network (netautogen)

• INPUT * p2p_ethernet.csv — Point-to-point Ethernet cable mapping in CSV for netautogen.

  • Convert the NVIS/cabling Excel workbook into this CSV so the layout and columns match what netautogen expects.

  • Refer to Input File Format Requirements (Manifest) for P2P, SiteInfo, and factory rack inventory formats.

  • siteinfo.yml — Site information file.

  • rack_inventory.csv — Rack inventory from the factory (CSV format).

• OUTPUT

  • network-configuration.yml — Network configuration file.

  • ip-allocations.md — IP allocation file.

  • per switch startup.yaml — Configuration file.

  • per switch BCM JSON — BCM JSON file.

  • Nvidia AIR Simulator file:

    • nvidia-air.json — Nvidia AIR Simulator file.

Stage 2: bcm-post-install

• INPUT

  • No input required.

• OUTPUT

  • Add/Update BCM with racks, networks, devices, categories, partitions, UDev Rules, and IPoIB

  • create IMAGE for the DGX OS

  • Network ready for ZTP
