Installation#
Choose your target platform.
L4T
Development Machine
To install the PVA SDK on x86-64 Ubuntu for cross-compilation targeting L4T:
wget https://edge.urm.nvidia.com/artifactory/sw-pva-generic-local/pva-sdk/pva-sdk-2.10-local_2.10.1_all.deb
sudo apt install -y ./pva-sdk-2.10-local_2.10.1_all.deb
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y pva-sdk-2.10 pva-sdk-2.10-vpu-dev-nvvpu
sudo apt remove --purge -y pva-sdk-local
rm -f pva-sdk-2.10-local_2.10.1_all.deb
sudo apt update
Linux Target
To install the cuPVA host runtime only on arm64 Linux targets:
wget https://edge.urm.nvidia.com/artifactory/sw-pva-generic-local/pva-sdk/pva-sdk-2.10-local_2.10.1_all.deb
sudo apt install -y ./pva-sdk-2.10-local_2.10.1_all.deb
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y pva-sdk-2.10-l4t
sudo apt remove --purge -y pva-sdk-local
rm -f pva-sdk-2.10-local_2.10.1_all.deb
sudo apt update
DriveOS
Obtain these files from your NVIDIA representative and place them in the same directory:
pva-sdk-2.10-local-driveos_2.10.1_all.debpva-sdk-2.10-local-asip_2.10.1_all.deb
Copy and run these commands from that directory:
sudo apt install -y ./pva-sdk-2.10-local-driveos_2.10.1_all.deb ./pva-sdk-2.10-local-asip_2.10.1_all.deb
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y pva-sdk-2.10 pva-sdk-2.10-vpu-dev-nvvpu
sudo apt remove --purge -y pva-sdk-local-driveos pva-sdk-local-asip
rm -f pva-sdk-2.10-local-driveos_2.10.1_all.deb pva-sdk-2.10-local-asip_2.10.1_all.deb
sudo apt update
This installs both ASIP Programmer and NVVPU development support. Configure the ASIP Programmer license as described in Using ASIP Programmer.
A supported QNX toolchain must be available to build for QNX; it is not distributed with the PVA SDK. The supported toolchain is SDP 8.0.4 for DRIVE OS 7.2.
No PVA SDK installation is required on the DriveOS target. The target image already contains the cuPVA runtime libraries.
Installation Paths#
PVA SDK files are installed to /opt/nvidia/pva-sdk-2.10. Inside this directory, the following subdirectories can be found:
Directory |
Description |
|---|---|
bin |
Helper scripts |
cmake |
Build scripts |
include |
C headers |
lib/<arch>/* |
libraries for host and device |
samples |
complete sample applications |
tools/* |
tooling for building VPU code and debugging |
If the user wishes to relocate the PVA SDK after installation, additional configuration may be required, for example registering the new location with CMake or the system dynamic linker. Optional ASIP Programmer installations also require preserving file timestamps; see Using ASIP Programmer.
