The VSS Agent exposes HTTP endpoints for chat, workflow execution, and video management. The default listen port is 8000.

Endpoint catalog

MethodEndpointDescription
POST/v1/workflowExecute workflow (non-streaming)
POST/v1/workflow/streamExecute workflow (streaming)
POST/v1/chatOpenAI-compatible chat (non-streaming)
POST/v1/chat/streamOpenAI-compatible chat (streaming)
POST/v1/chat/completionsOpenAI Chat Completions API (stream selects the mode)

The deployment defaults point the Reference Agentic UI chat surfaces at /v1/chat/stream.

Interactive requests

The /v1/workflow and /v1/chat routes support human-in-the-loop. When the workflow needs input from the user, the route emits an interaction_required SSE event carrying execution_id, interaction_id, the prompt to show, and a response_url of the form /executions/<execution_id>/interactions/<interaction_id>/response, then holds the connection open. POST the answer to that URL and the same stream resumes.

/v1/chat/completions follows the OpenAI specification exactly and is non-interactive unless the front end is configured with enable_interactive_extensions: true.

Legacy routes

MethodEndpointReplaced by
POST/generate, /generate/stream/v1/workflow, /v1/workflow/stream
POST/chat, /chat/stream/v1/chat, /v1/chat/stream

These paths are still served for existing integrations, but they run non-interactively: a workflow that pauses for user input over a legacy route never receives an answer. Any client that must handle an interaction — including the UI chat surfaces — has to use the /v1 routes. Set disable_legacy_routes: true on the front end to stop serving them.

Additional video-management routes (/api/v1/videos and related) are served by the same process when the agent UI is enabled. Refer to the running service OpenAPI document at http://<host>:8000/openapi.json for the complete live surface.
