Platform Setup#

You can choose from different installation options for the Holoscan for Media platform to run all provided software tools based on your needs.

Local Developer#

This option is intended for developers. It allows you to install the full Holoscan for Media environment on top of Ubuntu with a NVIDIA ConnectX NIC or BlueField DPU and NVIDIA Professional GPU.

The machine must comply with the general hardware requirements. You can use it in isolation with a loopback cable between two networking ports to transmit and receive uncompressed media, or connect it to a switch to access and test with external ST 2110 equipment.

Note

The Local Developer Platform has fewer capabilities than the Production Platform due to reduced hardware constraints and the lack of firmware, BIOS, and OS performance tuning, which may prevent full ST 2110 compliance. Key limitations compared to the Production Platform include:

  • Support for only two network interfaces

  • All pod- and container-level securityContext settings are allowed, whereas in production, privileged access and certain Linux capabilities are restricted by the default OpenShift Security Context Constraints (SCC)

  • No support for PTP Operator

Production#

This option allows you to install with Red Hat OpenShift in single-node, three-node, or five-node cluster configurations (switch recommended) on NVIDIA-Certified Systems in production.
