20.0-20.2 Only: NVIDIA vGPU Manager RPM package is incompatible with some Red Hat Enterprise Linux z-stream kernels#

Description#

The NVIDIA Virtual GPU Manager kernel module nvidia.ko fails to load with the following Red Hat Enterprise Linux z-stream kernel versions:

  • 8.10 versions since 4.18.0-553.143.1.el8_10

  • 9.8 versions since 5.14.0-687.12.1.el9_8

This issue occurs because the RPM package for the NVIDIA Virtual GPU Manager is incompatible with the specified Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.10 and 9.8 z-stream kernel versions and later versions in the same release streams.

Status#

Resolved in NVIDIA vGPU software 20.3

The resolution of this issue involves the distribution of RPM packages for the NVIDIA Virtual GPU Manager that are compatible with the specified Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.10 and 9.8 z-stream kernel versions and later versions in the same release streams.
